Google will launch the new range of Pixel smartphones and peripherals this week. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to set an impressive mark for the Pixel brand and the wider Android smartphone market. Yes, Google wants the phone to sell, but there’s more to these mobiles than market share.
It all starts with making the proverbial “damn fine smartphone” because, without that, nobody will give Google the time of day.
Update: Sunday October 1st: In the run-up to Wednesday’s launch, more details around the hardware are coming out, with a series of promotional videos for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro leaked by the respected @MysteryLupin.
The videos are aimed at the public, illustrating the ease of switching to a Pixel. A number cover specific subjects, but the hero video illustrates the features Google wants consumers to focus on.
It opens by showing how easy it is to change to a Pixel; moving over texts and messages, contacts, music and videos are all demonstrated with the tagline “Switch over, don’t start over."
